Description

I have always been a big fan of manga "Petshop of Horrors". And the story about Dreizehn ("PSoH" vol.1 chapter 4) is my most favourite chapter, I usually feel my eyes being full of tears when I read it. It is a touching story about a blind girl and her faithful doberman.

Karen becomes the witness of her parents' murder. The received shock makes her blind. Karen visits the mysterious petshop of Count D to get a pet that would help her to forget about what she had to endure. Count D sells her a seeing-eye dog, it's a doberman called Dreizehn. If you had a chance to read "Petshop of Horrors", you remember that all the animals of Count D are not usual. Their potential owners are able to see their human essence while to anyone else they are just normal animals.
So, Karen gives the first order to Dreizehn, it's "Shake". But then she understands that in front of her there's not just a dog. Dreizehn is a German soldier staying on his kneel and giving Karen his hand. Karen thinks that it is a bad joke, but Count D reassures her that Dreizehn is a military dog, extremely trained to become her bodyguard.
So. Dreizehn (or just Dora-chan) follows Karen everywhere protecting her from any trouble. And once Karen becomes curious what actually Dora-chan looks like. She asks him to let her touch his face. By touching she understands Dora-chan must look handsome enough but then she touches his ears and gets a shock. His ears are half cut off. Dora-chan tries to calm Karen saying that cutting ears is a usual thing in that place he had to serve (you know, military dobermans usually have to endure this).
Then the murderer of Karen's parents appears, Dora-chan protects the girl, he has to fight. Karen can hear screams and then the gun shots. She is afraid that Dora-chan can perish, she wants to see him and... she begins to see again! In front of here there's the dead murderer and the wounded doberman.
From that moment Dreizehn doesn't speak to Karen any more being just a dog, but he still remains her pet and bodyguard.

I'm an awful story-teller... Just read it, it's awesome!
But remember that manga must be read from the right part of the page to the left, while usual books are read from left to right!

Also there is an anime about Count D and his petshop but it has only 4 series - about a cannibal rabbit, an albino lizard, a mermaid and a mysterious animal Kirin. Though manga "PSoH" contains 10 books, 4-5 chapters in each of them.
The most beautiful and touching manga I've ever read... :heart:
